We are excited to welcome our latest supplier addition, Toyoshima & Co, Ltd., to the swatchbook platform.
As a “Lifestyle Trading Company”, Toyoshima & Co, Ltd. has been adapting and evolving in the fashion industry for over 180 years, from raw materials to textiles and final products.
Toyoshima & Co, Ltd. is introducing two innovative collections to our platform.
The first collection is a range of naturally dyed fabrics derived from food waste, which underlines their commitment to sustainability.
This dedication extends even further in their procurement strategy. Sourcing non-standard ingredients such as irregularly shaped vegetables and scraps from food enterprises and agricultural settings, they ingeniously turn what might be waste into a resource. The integral components from these plant materials are extracted and then imbued with carefully chosen dyes, further exemplifying their innovative approach to eco-friendly practices.
The second collection, “Wonder Shape”, brings an innovative approach to textile design.
Developed by Toyoshima, “Wonder Shape” offers 360-degree stretchability and superior stretch recovery rate thanks to their unique knitting technology. This results in excellent shape stability, creating a fabric that doesn’t easily lose its shape.
Moreover, the “Wonder Shape” collection aligns with our sustainability goals. In its manufacturing process, natural gas is used as part of the fuel and 60% of the water used in dyeing is recycled. This environmentally friendly approach has earned “Wonder Shape” recognition and support within the fashion industry.
The addition of Toyoshima & Co, Ltd. diversifies our platform’s offerings, enhancing our commitment to transparency on material composition and manufacturing data. This collaboration provides our users with direct access to a broader range of digitized materials, eliminating the need for a middleman.
Chikako Hanaoka, our Managing Director of swatchbook Japan, celebrates this collaboration: "We're excited to introduce Toyoshima to our platform. Their innovative, eco-friendly fabrics perfectly align with our commitment to sustainability and transparency. We anticipate great creations arising from this collaboration."
Welcome to the swatchbook family, Toyoshima & Co, Ltd. 💙
